Promoting Corporate Aviation as the Career of Choice
AsBAA, the Asian region’s non-for-profit representative trade body for business aviation hosted its annual Student Chapter Day at ABACE16. The Student Day at ABACE forms part of a wider programme of activities that fall under the AsBAA Student Chapter; AsBAA’s initiative to inspire young people and fresh graduates into a career in aviation, thereby securing the future sustainability of the industry.
The Student Day welcomed approximately 210 students from the following universities: Shanghai Aviation College, Shanghai Jiaotong University, NUAA, CAUC, HKU. The energy and fun-filled sessions sought to inform students on the diverse career opportunities within business and general aviation that exist today as well as highlight the future areas for consideration. Student Chapter lead, Ty Dubay said, “We hope to have inspired the next generation of young aviators in choosing a career in corporate aviation by working with national level universities across the region, joining their career days and hosting student focused sessions at events such as ABACE”.
The Student Chapter is currently engaged with around 12 universities in mainland China and Hong Kong, and plans to expand to Singapore and wider South East Asia in 2017. AsBAA Chairman, Charlie Mularski shared, “As we’ve heard from NBAA, key industry leaders and well informed speakers at ABACE16 opening & educational sessions and throughout this year’s show, business and general aviation is expanding, evolving, and diversifying. The work we do with students is a big part of bringing the industries growing dynamism to a wider group. If we can inspire more young people to join our wonderful industry, we can secure its future.”
